Frequently Asked Questions
What is RV consignment?
RV consignment is a service where RV owners can list their vehicles with a consignment company to rent them out to other individuals. The consignment company handles the rental process, maintenance, and other logistics on behalf of the owner and the profit from the rental is shared!
How does the RV consignment process work?
Elite will either pick up the Owners RV for free, or the Owner will bring their RV to our facility, and Elite will assess its condition. Once approved, we list it for rent on our platform as well as Outdoorsy. When rented, we manage reservations, maintenance, and ensure a seamless experience for both owners and renters.
What types of RVs do you accept for consignment?
We accept a variety of RV types, including motorhomes, travel trailers, and campervans. The RVs must meet our quality standards, and owners should provide necessary documentation. Currently we do not rent our 5th wheels - however that may change in the future.
How do I know my RV is in good hands during consignment?
Our team conducts thorough inspections and maintenance checks to ensure each RV meets safety and quality standards. We also provide updates to owners and renters about the status and condition of the RV. Upon check out and check in a full 360 degree walkthrough video is taken to ensure any damages are caught in the moment and not after the fact. The renters will have full coverage insurance for every outing, so if any damages are discovered, this will be covered by the renters insurance through Outdoorsy.
What responsibilities do RV owners have during consignment?
Owners are responsible for delivering the RV to our facility in good condition. They also need to provide necessary documentation, such as insurance and registration, and communicate any specific requirements or restrictions.
How is the rental price determined?
Rental prices are typically set based on factors such as the RV type, model, amenities, and market demand. Our team works with owners to determine competitive yet fair pricing!
What if my RV is damaged during a rental?
We have insurance coverage to handle potential damages during rentals. Our team investigates incidents, and insurance helps cover the costs of repairs or replacements. Outdoorsy will also provide coverage to ensure that you are never left high and dry.
How and when do I get paid for my RV's rentals?
Owners receive payments based on the rental activity of their RV. Payments are typically processed on a regular schedule and payouts are made once per month!
Can I use my RV while it's listed for consignment?
In most cases, owners can use their RV during periods when it's not booked for rental. However, availability for personal use depends on the rental schedule and prior arrangements with the consignment company. Please always give us a 72 hours minimum notice when wanting to take your RV camping so we can confirm it doesn't conflict with other scheduled rentals.
What happens if I want to remove my RV from consignment?
Owners can request to remove their RV from consignment at any time. However, there may be specific terms and conditions outlined in the consignment agreement regarding notice periods and other considerations.
